Nekki grew up in Massachusetts and Maryland as a child. She holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University and an M.B.A. from Columbia University. Prior to business school, Nekki spent two years at Schlumberger in Houston as a computer engineer. She launched her Wall Street career at Salomon Brothers as a quantitative analyst in derivatives and structured products. After almost 20 years at Salomon (which became Salomon Smith Barney, then Citigroup), Nekki briefly worked for Platinum Grove Asset Management before joining C5 Capital Management, in Summit, giving her more flexibility and time with her family.
Nekki met Camellia, the co-founder of Momentum, in 1998 through mutual friends and colleagues. They had an instant connection. Starting up Momentum will be her third career change in her life (Engineering-Finance-Fitness).
Nekki took her first indoor cycling class in the corporate gym at Citigroup. She cycled throughout her last pregnancy, until the week her son was born…and loved every minute of it! She realized how spin offers an amazing cardio workout, with total body conditioning. What she also learned over the past few years is the importance of mixing up your workout for maximum results, without getting bored. She is excited Momentum uniquely offers multiple types of workouts to keep their members engaged and motivated.
Nekki and her husband, Buddy, have lived in Summit since 1998. They have 5 children ranging in ages from 10 to 30.
As a child Camellia moved around quite a bit but settled in Yorktown Heights, NY. She received a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Colgate University and upon graduation, was accepted in the First Scholar program where she worked for First Chicago while pursuing her M.B.A in the evenings at the University of Chicago.
Upon receiving her M.B.A. in Finance, Camellia moved back to the East Coast to NYC, and worked for Chase Securities in equity derivatives, where she and co-founder, Nekki, met and had an instant connection. After 3 years, she joined Citigroup in equity derivatives sales where she remained for 12 years. Recently, Camellia was hired by a small minority-owned broker dealer, based out of Summit allowing her more flexibility to pursue her dream of becoming an entrepreneur while incorporating her love for fitness.
Camellia has participated in the NYC marathon and several half marathons, enjoys spinning, Pilates and high interval training. She is certified in CPR, which she has used to saved someone’s life, and most recently, received her certifications…….
Camellia has resided in Summit since 2001 where she lives with her husband, Ron, and their 3 active boys. She is involved in the local community and is a regular volunteer at her boys’ school. Camellia is very excited about bringing a woman-owned fitness business to Summit and helping people feel good about themselves on a daily basis.
